September 2024 - American Airlines now on GDS: American Airlines announced it would begin returning fare content to the Global Distribution Systems (GDS) after previously removing them in an attempt to encourage agencies to use NDC. American Airlines fares are now available in the GDS. Please note that all University airline contracts, including discounted fares, are posted in the GDS. To ensure you receive contracted rates, book business flights through Concur.
Southwest Airlines
September 2024 - Southwest Business Webinar: The Department of Travel Management is partnering with Southwest Airlines to host a webinar for the University. Travel Policy: Update
January 2024 - Travel Policy Changes: In an effort to align our Travel Policy and Travel & Business Expense Reimbursement Policy with our peers and best practices, we have made some revisions. The use of the travel portal is no longer required, but strongly encouraged when travelers are paying with University funds. If a traveler chooses to book outside of the travel portal, they are required to register their trips (both domestic and foreign) with International SOS (ISOS), the University's trusted Global Assistance Program.
Leisure Travel
January 2024 - New Booking Tool: Leisure hotel rates can now be booked through Deem. Leisure hotel rates are for employees, visitors, family, and friends booking personal rates. Leisure rental car rates are only for employees and students. To begin using Deem, click on Create a new account and follow the on screen instructions.
Hotel Corporate Rates
January 2024 - Hotel Corporate Rates: Beginning January 1, hotel corporate rates and codes will no longer be visible on the University’s travel website. To access the University’s corporate hotel rates, visit the Travel Portal to complete your reservation through World Travel. Click here for a list of participating hotels.
Air Travel Business Class
January 2024 - Business Class flight duration: Business Class tickets are approved for flights over 5 hours of continuous flight time (excludes layovers and change of plane). Pre-approval before the ticket is purchased is not required.

Those who have booked upcoming travel via Travel Inc. will need to contact Travel Inc. for any modifications that need to be made. September 2022 - Advisory: Due to planned maintenance, the University of Miami Travel Portal (miami.edu/travelportal) will be unavailable starting Tuesday, September 27 through Thursday, September 29. On Friday, September 30, you may notice the Travel Portal has a new look and feel; however, the portal will maintain the same overall functionality.
